Michigan Aging and Disabilities Resource Centers (ADRCs)
ADRCs around the nation are operated jointly by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the US Administration on Community Living. They provide a long list of services and other support to disabled individuals and senior citizens. Go through the location nearest you.
Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA)
For disabled US veterans who are Michigan residents, the state’s DMVA is your go-to resource for all sorts of services and support. If your impaired mobility is a result of or was made worse by military duty or VA care, you are entitled to financial help and other assistance. This often includes a disability grant to get you the wheelchair van or vehicle equipment and modifications you need.

Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC)
MDRC endeavors to create more opportunities for Michigan’s disabled population to integrate with and participate in their communities. It runs the Michigan Assistive Technology program to educate individuals on using such equipment and to help them acquire it. This is an important resource for information about your options for financial assistance.

Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS)
MRS wants to help the state’s disabled find and maintain employment. For many, this requires a handicapped-friendly van with which to seek jobs, attend interviews and, of course, get to work on a daily basis. If you’re in this situation, the agency may offer you a disability grant applicable toward a handicap van.

Michigan Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC)
Through participation in policy making procedures, overseeing Independent Living Centers and other actions, Michigan’s SILC strives to further the principles of independent living for aging state residents and those over the age of 18 who have a disability. Funding Programs
UCP Michigan operates two Assistive Technology Programs. Follow the links for more information on each of the programs.
The Michigan Assistive Technology Loan Fund (MATLF) supports the purchase of needed technology through low interest rates and loan guarantees.
TheMichigan Employment Loan Fund (MELF) offers loans to buy equipment for self-employment or to work for an employer from home or a telework center. The purpose of a loan is to reduce or eliminate barriers to employment.
